Ever since Steve Jobs walked onto the stage on June 29th 2007 and announced Apple's first iPhone many companies and CEOs have wanted to mimic the same. To bring into the market a product so innovative that can create a massive fan following, just as the iPhone has as of today.
In this week's blog, I share my thoughts on a product trying to follow the same formula of many something that is distinct, innovative or as I would say a step into the future. You must wonder why I keep on mentioning Apple today. Well, it's because Imran Chaudhri, an ex-Apple employee has set -off on a journey of A.I with his own company Humane. And Humane's very first product is the Humane A.I pin.
Imran has to say that as the power of computers increases, the size of our devices decreases. He strongly believes that AR and VR devices are not the future as all they do is get our screens closer to our eyes. The solution is a wearable device that seamlessly helps users with a built-in A.I assistant. So coming to the A.I Pin itself. It is a small device that attaches itself to the clothing you wear with the help of magnets. Powered by OpenAI's ChatGPT, the A.I Pin can do much more than just pick up calls or search through the internet. It can research, record(Both audio and video), summarise and navigate through all daily applications with a single voice command. The device is stand-alone, meaning you don't need to carry your phone around with you.
The device also comes equipped with a projector that can display useful information on the palm of your hand. This is achieved by using Laser Ink Display technology. The device can also be controlled by an array of gestures. The camera makes the device great for capturing special. To enable the voice assistant all the user has to do is just touch and hold. The most useful of all features I've seen until now is the ability of the device to act as an interpreter giving real-time translations for when needed the most.
The aim of the Humane A.I Pin according to me is to completely replace phones one day. As of today the technology still needs refinement and is in its early stages of development. Over time, as technology progresses and A.I is not as dependent on cloud computing as it is today, the A.I Pin shall be a viable choice for users seeking an experience beyond the mobile phones of the world.
That’s all the tech for this week. See you in the next one.

Creator of the week
This week’s creator is Derell Fernandes, a freelance photographer, videographer and drone pilot based in Goa. I'm a huge fan of Derell’s work and being a friend of mine, I've seen him grow into the craft over the years. Here's a little more about Derell’s work in his own words.
How did I get into photography?
Back in 2017, I stumbled across a video on YouTube titled ‘8 camera hacks in 90 seconds’. I was mesmerised by how those simple techniques could make such a tremendous difference by elevating the look of the photograph . The person who uploaded that video was the physical embodiment of the words: Canada, canon and coffee. It was none other than Peter McKinnon. His ability to elevate mundane daily rituals, such as brewing morning coffee, into high-end cinematic shots, captivated me. The rich contrasty tones, the sound effects, the colour grading, the rustic feel, the story telling, everything just added another dimension to the final product. The ‘2 minute Tuesday’ was a concept introduced by him where he would set a timer for 2 minutes and try to teach something new related to photography or videography. His tasteful use of audio clips to simulate different sounds, like the sky shattering roar of a jet for a swimmer's movement through water, ignited my desire to replicate such effects and captivating visuals. And that’s how I learnt to colour grade and colour correct my photos and videos. As time progressed on I got my hands on my first DSLR camera, my first drone and a device to edit on, propelling my creative journey onwards.
How’s it been going on lately?
My passion for this craft remains as unwavering today as it was 7 years ago. I may get all groggy to wake up early to study engineering but I could jump out of bed at 5 am to embark on a sunrise photo shoot. Some shoots have taken me to destinations I had never anticipated going. Content creation stands resilient as one of those few domains that will always require people who can deliver their creativity, whether in the realms of events, marketing or artistic expression.
My views on the current trends in photography and videography.
I feel that photography is a gift that keeps on giving and it’s here to stay. Many creators harbor apprehensions regarding that fact that AI tools such as image generation could displace their jobs. However, individuals often struggle to articulate their desired image with precision—be it the hues, perspectives, or emotional resonance. The mastery accumulated as a photographer or a videographer over the years cannot be replicated easily. We possess a trained eye for effective angles, optimal settings for a myriad of lighting conditions and the dramatic impact of strategic light placement around a subject. Curating a style of shooting that can command recognition on any platform is of utmost importance. This can anchor our relevance in an ever evolving creative landscape and provide for ample collaborative opportunities.
