Knowing how a user views your content is a key part of designing any. This concept is called layout scanning. There are two main layout scanning patterns that your everyday user may follow. Namely the āZā pattern and the āFā pattern.
These two patterns display how a users search through the information placed in front of them. Keeping these two patterns at the back of your mind while designing can be very useful while working on thumbnails, banners, portfolios and other similar type projects where key information need to be displayed to a user. These patterns can be seen used in websites all over the internet.
Incorporating these patterns will give the user a sense of flow while letting you add hierarchy to your design. Letting you choose which information hold a greater value and needs to be displayed first.
Thatās all for this week. See you in the next one.
Good design is a lot like clear thinking made visual.
